Six More Weeks of Winter

The groundhog in Limerick, Maine saw its shadow today which means six more weeks of winter!

Grace and Jack spent the morning making these cute groundhogs to celebrate Groundhog Day today! They both painted several pieces of paper using brown paint. Once the paint dried I cut them into groundhog shapes and we taped them onto small craft sticks and then headed outside.

Grace, Jack, and I went outside with our groundhogs in hand to see if they would see their shadows and they definitely did! We are anticipating several more weeks (or months!) of winter ahead.

Jack LOVED carrying around his little groundhog with him all day today!

Just before we went inside today Grace and I put our groundhogs in a snow bank at the end of our driveway to surprise our neighbors and our mail carrier as they drove by. Our cat, Good P, even joined in on our Groundhog Day fun!

Grace and Jack enjoyed sitting together when we came inside from our groundhog celebration to read It's Groundhog Day! In addition to painting groundhogs, Gracie girl painted her face because she wanted to be a groundhog too!! What a fun day we had!

How cute is this!!
What fun pictures. Poppy and I are smiling and smiling ~ even with the 6 more weeks of winter news!
We love the little groundhogs, both the paper ones and the little ones walking in your yard!
Another treat for your neighborhood, how they must enjoy passing by your home.
And, finally we must add that the last picture is a favorite among favorites. Grace with her *sweet* painted face and that *intense* look on Jack's face are getting us every time!! Just precious!
We Love You,
Maddy & Poppy

PS...hello, Good P, nice to see you!

Grace, you and Jack had so much fun on Groundhog Day. If you were the groundhog, Grace, would you give us six more weeks of winter or an early spring?

Rebecca, that was a cute, educational activity. It made a clear connection between the story and experience. Their painted groundhogs are quite handsome.

Love you,
Memere
